    39 - Stroll about town

Walking along a noisy, busy street amid lots of legs and rustling carrier bags can be pretty mind blowing for a dog. You will need to have taught your dog to be led from either side (way 26) so that you can switch your position to keep him away from the road as necessary.

This is where your skills as a trainer really come in, as your dog will no doubt attract a lot of attention. The hand-touch greeting, hand follow and sit are probably the three most important exercises the dog-about-town needs to know. You will also be thrilled that you taught the ‘off’ cue, if your walk takes you past any rubbish on the pavement.
