Wire Fox Terrier |England|

Wire Fox Terrier |England|

The Wire Fox Terrier shares its history with the Smooth Fox Terrier, although opinion is divided over their heritage; some speculate that the Wire Fox Terrier developed from rough coated Black and Tan Terriers. Regardless, both breeds were used extensively by fox hunters for locating foxes that were hidden in burrows. The earliest recorded Wire Fox Terrier was named Old Tip, bred by the Master of the Sinnington Hounds, Yorkshire, around 1866. Old Tip sired three champions and was a great influence on the breed’s development. These are intelligent, energetic dogs that love to play, hunt, dig, and bark. They make excellent companions for active homes.
