    Transylvanian Hound |Hungry|

This rare breed of Hungarian Hound traces back to the Middle Ages when it was widespread and bred across the Carpathian Basin by aristocrats and royalty. The brave hounds were used for hunting big game such as boar, wolf, bear, and lynx in the mountains and on the plains. Due to the different terrains they hunted on, two types of hounds developed: a longlegged variety and a shorter-legged type. As large predators began to disappear, the breed began to diminish. Efforts by breeders have re-established the Transylvanian Hound, but only the long-legged variety exists today.
