Thai Bangkaew Dog |Thailand|

Thai Bangkaew Dog |Thailand|

The Thai Bangkaew Dog traces to Bangkaew, a village in Phitsanulok Province, Thailand, and to the Wat Bangkaew Buddhist monastery near the Yom River. Legend says that the breed’s foundation was a pregnant black-and-white dog named Tah Nim who was given to Luang Puh Maak Metharee, the head of the monastery. Tah Nim had been bred by a wild dog or a Jackal, and her puppies were bred to local dogs. The Thai Bangkaew Dog is widely bred in Thailand today, but rarely seen outside its homeland. These are lively, intelligent, loyal dogs that are devoted to their families but wary of strangers. They also love to swim and dig.
