    Pomeranian |Germany|

The Pomeranian is a member of the Spitz family and traces its ancestry to the Arctic. The breed as we know it today, however, was developed in Germany and is the smallest of the German Wolfspitzen. Queen Victoria did much to popularize the breed in England, and a “Pom” called Turi was with her when she died. The first Pom was registered in the United States in 1888, and the dog’s popularity increased rapidly. Poms are lively, inquisitive, and playful. They like to live life by their own rules and on their own terms.
