Perro De Presa Mallorquin |Spain|

Perro De Presa Mallorquin |Spain|

The history of the Perro de Presa Mallorquin, also known as the Ca de Bou, is undocumented but it is believed to have developed from mastiff-types. Dog fighting and bull baiting were popular sports on Majorca until the late 19th century, with dogs on the island bred specifically for these purposes. By 1923 the Perro de Presa had an established type and was entered into the Spanish Stud Book. The breed was almost extinct following World War II but has been on the increase. These dogs are not suitable for first-time dog owners.
