    Norwich Terrier |England|

The Norwich Terrier shares the same early history as the Norfolk Terrier. During the nineteenth century, it became fashionable for Cambridge students to keep terriers, and several bought dogs from local dealer Charles Lawrence. The dogs became known as Trumpington Terriers, since Trumpington Street was home to many students. These small, rugged terriers are thought to have had Irish Terrier in them. A union between a brindle Scottish terrier-type and a long-haired red terrier (on Trumpington Street) led to a puppy named Rags, a wire-haired terrier with pricked ears and great hunting instincts. They are affectionate, loyal, entertaining, and often independent
