    Norwegian Buhund |Norway|

    Norwegian Buhund |Norway|

Although they trace back to the Vikings, modern Buhunds developed in western Norway where they were used as general-purpose farm dogs, herding and guarding livestock, hunting, and guarding property. Today they are mostly companion animals, although some are still livestock guardians. They have also been used as assistance dogs. Buhunds have calm, affectionate, and loyal temperaments; are generally good with children and other dogs; and will watch over their homes and property. They do have a tendency to bark excessively and molt profusely at certain times of the year.
