Landseer European Continental |Europe|

Landseer European Continental |Europe|

There are two types of Landseer: the European Continental, which is registered as a breed by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale; and a color variation of the Newfoundland, simply known as Landseer. The two were originally from the same stock, but specific breeding in Europe has seen the Landseer European Continental diverge away from the Newfoundland in type. The name Landseer was derived from the British painter, Sir Edwin Landseer, and his famous 1838 painting, A Distinguished Member of the Humane Society, depicting a black-andwhite Newfoundland. The Continental is taller than Newfoundlands and has a shorter coat.
