    Keeshond |Netherlands/Germany|

    Keeshond |Netherlands/Germany|

In Germany the Keeshond is considered a size variety of the German Spitz. In the United States, England, and a number of other countries, the Keeshond is recognized as a separate breed whose history is most closely associated with the Netherlands. The Keeshond became popular there during the seventeenth century and was mostly used for guarding barges. This breed makes an excellent watch dog and has a fierce bark, but it is not aggressive in nature. These are highly intelligent and charismatic dogs that have been used for search and rescue, but are most commonly kept as companions.
