    Karelian Bear Dog |Finland|

    Karelian Bear Dog |Finland|

Karelian Bear Dogs are ancient and trace to northwestern Europe when Spitz-types were an essential part of life for farmers and peasants: guarding, hunting, and protecting. These outstanding and fearless hunting dogs are used mostly on large game. Typically they hunt silently and give voice only when the game has stopped or been treed. These dogs are most associated with Karelia, an area in Russia and Finland, and are believed to have developed from the Komi dog. The Karelian Bear Dog is an active, intelligent, and independent breed that is best suited to an energetic, experienced home.
