Jindo |Korea|

The Korean Jindo Dog originated on the island of Jindo, located off the western coast of Korea. These dos developed in geographic isolation and with little influence from other breeds. No records exist to reveal their actual origins, but some believe Jindos developed from ancient indigenous dogs. Others think they are descendants of Mongolian dogs that bred with Korean stock during battles in the thirteenth century. What is not disputed is the breed’s long history, its purity, and its excellence at hunting and guarding. These dogs are also exceptionally clean and easy to house-train. Jindos were designated as a “National Treasure” by the South Korean government in 1962.
