    Greenland Dog |Greenland|

The Greenland Dog is one of the “powerhouse” Spitz breeds, and also one of the oldest. Ancient remains of Spitz-type dogs found on the New Siberian Islands off the northern Russian coast have been dated to around 9,000 years ago, and there is evidence that the dogs reached Greenland with the Sarqaq people by around 5,000 years ago. This is a remarkable sleddog breed that is widely used in polar expeditions and for hunting seals and polar bears. They are incredibly tough, independent, and strong, and it is essential they have consistent, patient, and firm training in addition to extensive, high-octane exercise. They are good-natured dogs, but are suitable only for an experienced home that can provide them with the exercise and supervision they need.
