    Doberman Pinscher |Germany|

    Doberman Pinscher |Germany|

The multitalented Doberman is renowned for its intelligence, loyalty, protectiveness, and agility and, in light of these traits, has been used in a wide range of services. Originally they were valued as guard dogs, at which they still excel, but they have also been used by the military (for everything from message carrying to tracking) and police. Dobermans are generally quick to learn and very easy to train. They are gentle and affectionate with their families, and are a highly effective deterrent to intruders!

    History

The history of the Doberman is well recorded and traces to one man, a German tax collector named Friedrich Louis Dobermann. In the nineteenth century Dobermann set about developing a breed that would protect him when he was collecting taxes, and would be helpful in persuading people to part with their money. The two breed founders were a male named Schnupp and a female named Bisart, whose puppies had the characteristic black and tan coloring seen in the modern breed. Other dogs including German Pinschers, German Shepherds, Great Danes, and Black and Tan Terriers, were also influential. The first Doberman was registered with the American Kennel Club in 1908, and the breed was adopted as the official war dog of the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. The Doberman Club was founded in England in 1948.

Superbly athletic, Dobermans excel at agility contests.

    Doberman puppies are notoriously rambunctious
