    Czechoslovakian Vlcak |Czechoslovakia|

    Czechoslovakian Vlcak |Czechoslovakia|

This is a “new” breed that traces to 1955 when German Shepherds were crossed with Carpathian Wolves in Czechoslovakia to develop dogs with the trainability and temperament of the former combined with the bravery, endurance, and toughness of the latter. The new breed was recognized as the Czechoslovakian Vlcak, “wolfdog,” in 1982 and made a national breed. These dogs have been used successfully as service animals such as for the police and search and rescue, and also make good hunting and guard dogs. They need to be carefully introduced to other animals and well socialized to make good companions. This breed is most suitable for an active, experienced home.
