    Bolognese |Italy|

The Bolognese is a member of the Bichon family and traces back to the Barbet, historically known as the Barbichon. These dogs are closely related to the Bichon Frisé, but developed in the area around Bologna in northern Italy. They were favored by Italian nobility and were often given as valuable gifts between noble families. Unlike the Bichon Frisé, the Bolognese is a rare breed, which is no reflection on its lovely characteristics. These dogs are intelligent, inquisitive, playful, and affectionate. They bond well with their families, including children, and are good with other dogs, but they can be prone to barking.
