Meet Sasha from Newark, OH

I would like to tell you a little bit about my family member Sasha. I had been looking for a pet (addition to our family) for a while. I checked all the local shelters and could not find someone that would fit in our family.

One afternoon I was sitting at the computer and I found a Siberian husky rescue center here in Ohio. I called them and unfortunately they didn't have but one and it wasn't one that would fit with our family. I gave the nice woman our phone number and she said that if anyone called that she would give them our number.

I was not off the phone with her for maybe 5 minutes and it was a lady near Baltimore, MD. She explained to me that should wasn't able to keep her dog Sasha and wanted to know if we were interested in her. We spoke on the phone for an hour and then she emailed me a picture of her. As soon as our family saw her picture we knew that she was the dog for us.

Once we got Sasha she instantly became a member of our family. I have 3 sons and they are as attached to her as my husband and myself.

The main reason we got a pet for the household was because first off I'm a cancer patient with serious anxiety issues and depression. I've had cancer 2 times in the past 5 years and my therapist recommended that I get a pet of some sort. My husband on the other hand is a heart patient who just had a quadruple bypass January of 2006. He also has high blood pressure and from what I've read having a pet helps get the blood pressure down as well.

Sasha coming into our lives has been more than a blessing. It seems as though she was meant to be in our home. As of now Sasha has helped with my anxiety and depression. She has helped with my husbands blood pressure it is finally going down. To top it off our children have become more friendly and not been arguing as much as before. Sasha has blessed this family and for that we will love her and take wonderful care of her. I still talk to her previous owner but Sasha is definitely a member of our family. It couldn't have happened at a better time in our lives. We thank God and her other family for giving us the opportunity to have her with us.

Believe me that having a pet in your life when you think all is bad actually turns into a wonderful thing. You can talk to them about your problems. You can cry with them and they are always there for you. Pets are taken advantage of to much. They should never be called pets they are family members just as much as one of your own children.
