Sometimes it's difficult
to be around even the sweetest dog when the old gas
machine kicks into high gear. Flatulence (passing gas)
in dogs can be due to a variety of factors. In some
cases, it may be because the food a dog is eating has a
vegetable content that is too high. In others, it may be
because a dog is getting too many table scraps.
A switch to a new diet
or a ban on scraps may be all that is needed to address
the problem, so everyone can breathe easier. Giving the
dog a supplement that includes yucca extract or similar
gas fighting ingredient can also help, as can giving the
dog charcoal biscuits. If the problem persists, a
veterinarian should be consulted to rule out any
underlying causes of the gas.
