TESTING A DOG FOR FLEAS

My dog is itching a lot lately. Does he have fleas?

You can try this simple test; take a flea comb and run it through the area around the dog’s rump and tail. Then, shake the contents of the comb on to a white paper towel. You should then moisten the towel slightly, if small brownish to black dots appear. If these dots turn reddish brown, they are probably flea droppings, meaning that the parasites have infested the pet. At this point, you should immediately begin flea treatment.
