In contrast to
submissive dogs, some pets will urinate when they have
trouble dealing with excitement, such as when their
owner comes home or when they engage in intense play.
Most often this occurs in younger, high-spirited dogs,
and it stops without intervention on the part of the
owner as the dog matures. You should take the dog to a
veterinarian to rule out any underlying medical causes.
Also, try to keep greetings low keyed and avoid
exuberant playing indoors.
A dog that urinates out
of excitement shouldn’t be reprimanded. Instead, clean
up the urine spot promptly using a product that
eradicates the urine odor. This will reduce the risk of
the dog urinating in that spot again.
