Choose a crate that is
tall enough for the dog to stand up and turn around
comfortably without bending down. The crate should be
long and wide enough so the dog can lie down with legs
fully stretched. A crate that is bigger than this is not
better. In fact it in can pose a safety risk by giving
dogs more room to injure themselves or get caught in the
crate’s wire metal bars.
Always remember to
remove a dog’s collar before placing your pet in the
crate, then put the collar back on right before the pet
is taken out of the crate. Collars and ID tags can
become caught in the crate’s bars, choking the pet.
