By the
time kittens get their adult teeth at about 4 months,
they should already have been introduced to the idea of
getting their teeth brushed. Young kittens should have
short (no more than one minute) tooth brushing sessions
2 or 3 times a week. Aside from protecting the pet’s
teeth and gums, this will get her accustomed to the home
tooth brushing routine. It is much easier to convince a
pet to accept grooming rituals like tooth brushing if
they are introduced to it during kittenhood.
Remember to use a toothpaste and brush developed just
for cats. Human toothpaste has sudsing agents, which can
harm the lining of a cat’s stomach when swallowed.
