LEAVING A KITTEN HOME DURING THE DAY

My new kitten is great, but I feel guilty leaving her home alone all day when I go to work; I worry that she’ll become bored or get into trouble. What can I do to keep her busy?

You shouldn’t feel guilty. Kittens sleep about 17 hours a day, so most of the time when you are at work, your pet will probably be snoozing. Plus, like adult cats, kittens are very good at amusing themselves when they’re left alone, provided they’re provided with things that keep them occupied. Leave a variety of safe toys at home you’re away. Set aside a group of very appealing toys that are only taken out during those periods when the pet is left alone. A scratching post and cat furniture will also provide the home-alone kitten with good stimulation. Before leaving for work, do a cat safety inspection, making sure all areas or objects that could pose a threat to the kitten are kept safely out of reach.
