Diet
Specially formulated pelleted foods are available for many small animals. These foods will provide the small animal with a nutritionally balanced diet. However, it’s a good idea to complement a small animal’s basic diet with other foods such as seeds, nuts, fruit, hay and "treat sticks" available at PSP.
Many small animals are "creatures of habit" who tend to do better when they are fed at the same time every day. Uneaten food should be removed from the small animal’s cage daily to prevent spoilage.
Small animals can become overweight. In many cases, a small animal that is being over-fed will hoard food by hiding it under his bedding. In such cases, the size of the portions served to the small animal should be reduced.
