Rodent Incisor Teeth
The incisor teeth of all rodents keep growing and must be worn down by gnawing to keep them from becoming too large and posing a serious threat to the animal’s health. The best way to keep incisor teeth trimmed is to let small animals chew on hardwood toys, rawhide or uncracked nuts.
Varying the chewing/gnawing toys that are given to a small animal will provide the pet with more mental stimulation.
Chewing/gnawing toys should be inspected regularly to ensure that there are no small loose fragments that can become lodged in the animal’s throat.
Keep chewing/gnawing toys clean by rinsing and wiping away debris. If a toy becomes too soiled, it should be replaced.
