Eggbinding

Eggbinding is a serious, often life-threatening, condition, in which the bird isn’t able to pass her egg. Placing a bird in a warm area, applying warm (but not hot) olive oil or mineral oil to her vent, and holding her in a towel over a plate of warm water can sometimes relieve eggbinding, and induce the egg to pass. But it is best to take a bird suffering from eggbinding to a veterinarian.

You can reduce the chances of your pet suffering from eggbinding by adding calcium supplements to the breeding bird’s diet. Since vitamins A and D help a bird utilize calcium, they should also be added to the diet through supplements
