Cage
The cockatoo’s cage should provide this active bird with plenty of room.  Recommend a minimum size of 36 inches long by 24 inches wide by 36 inches high.

Diet
Cockatoos should be fed a varied diet to meet their nutritional needs. Pellet formulas developed for cockatoos should form the basis of their diet, mixed with seeds. However, care should be taken not to include too much seed since it has a high fat content. Fresh chopped vegetables should also be given to cockatoos to provide bulk and roughage. Chopped fruits are also recommended, but be sure to remove pits. All vegetables and fruits should be thoroughly washed. Soaked beans should be included in a cockatoo's diet to provide protein. Nuts can be given, but only as an occasional treat because of their fat content.
