Cages
House the canary in a cage that is at least 19.5 inches long by 14 inches wide by 16 inches tall.  Cage wires should be spaced close together (no more than ½ inch apart) to prevent the bird from injuring itself.

Diet
Canary seed is a staple of the canary’s diet.  It should be supplemented with red rape seed, niger seed, and small yellow millet as well as fresh greens.
